Library Learning Commons

Guest reader from Wilton Public Library

A member of the Wilton library joins us as as a guest reader as we collaborate on Summer reading initiatives for our students.

We believe that the Library Learning Commons is the central hub for learning at our school. It is a full-service learning center where students and teachers meet and gather to do research, collaborate, use technology resources and create. It is our vision to provide the resources and space for students and staff to enjoy that process and instill a love of learning, reading, and innovating that reaches beyond the normal hours and the traditional four walls of the school. LLC staff provide direct instruction in the LLC and collaborate with teachers in the classroom. The LLC is open every day for students and teachers from 7:35-2:00. All students meet with our library teachers once per week for a sixty minute class, but are welcome from 7:35- 8:00 for early morning book exchange.

Our curriculum exposes our students to a wide range of literary genres, exemplar authors and illustrators, responsible use of all materials, and introductions to online resources. We also work collaboratively with our teachers to teach transdisciplinary units of study and Vision of a Learner portfolio experiences.
